+ LOJA BUILDING

Location: Walnut Creek, California

Our clients charged us with freshening a tired old concrete and stucco commercial building along a prominent stretch of road in Walnut Creek, on a very limited budget.  The goal was to create a fresh new look to the exterior taking clues from a more rugged and industrial palette of materials.

The building needed a base material to ground it to the site so we chose porcelain tile in a wood grain pattern to serve that purpose.  The budget dictated that the remaining transformation be accomplished via a new paint scheme.  The varying width vertical stripes were meant to reflect the busy sense of movement from the nearby freeways.  Red was chosen to give some pop to the rigid pattern of square windows.
